Creating a New Settlement on an Island

You can get a great settlement going on another island
or in a remote location using just Specialists...
Specialists
are:Thieves, Saboteurs, Geologists, and pioneers.
Island
version:...SINGLE FERRY.
First
create a storage yard near, but not to close to where your
ferry will pick up the passengers, so the thieves will have
a short distance to walk.
Place
some lumber, and stone, on it...now get one swordsman and
create two geologists, and two pioneers, and 10 thieves. Crush
the storage yard and have 5 thieves pick up lumber and board
the boat, then have 5 thieves pick up stone and board the
boat, then have the geologists and pioneers and the swordsman
board...sail to your new island home and pioneer a likely
looking spot for your harbour.
Once
you can place a harbour, build it by changing your pios and
geos back to carriers and then to diggers and builders, and
your thieves to carriers.
Ship
some building supplies, and get some towers built to claim
your new home.
Island
version...TWO FERRY"S:
(or two trips
from the same ferry)...
Do
the same as above but load the second ferry with three saboteurs,
two geologists and 10 thieves...
Have
the Sabs and Geos board the ferry. Have two thieves pick up
axes, and have one pick up a saw. Then have the rest pick
up more lumber and stone.
When
you arrive at your island, change one Saboteur to a carrier
and he will drop a pick. Once some building stone is discovered
a carrier will become a stonecutter with it, or a stone miner..
Do
not change the other two sabs until you have a coal and iron
mine up as they will be your miners.
Change
the thieves to carriers and they will become woodcutters and
sawmill workers. Don't forget to put up a residence for more
carriers as soon as your building industry is up and running.
Remote
area version
Use
the info above to put together a group of adventurers.
Soldiers
for protection; Pioneers to clear land; Geologists to prospect
and to be used as smiths and builders; Pioneers to clear land
and be converted to diggers and Saboteurs to change into stonecutters
and miners. And of course plenty of thieves to carry goods.
It's
always best to clear a nice big spot before sending the thieves.
Just put all the goods you think you'll need, into one or
two storage yards, and then crush them just before telling
your thieves to pick the goods up.
If
you have trouble with your thieves dropping goods when you
click a destination for them...
Select
one at a time and have him pick up the item you want. Press
"alt" and hold it and as soon as he pulls out his sack, click
a spot a short distance away where you can assemble your group
of thieves. He will walk there and will not drop the item.

Now
do this with the rest of your thieves. When they're all waiting
with their sacks on their shoulders, press "alt" and select
one thief, this will select them all. Now keep "alt" pressed and click the spot you want them to travel to. When
they arrive they will just stand there holding they're sacks
'till you select them again and click where you want them
to drop they're goods.
