Using Donkey Carts and New Settlements
(written by SloDragon)

Once the donkey hooks up to the cart, carriers will bring tools and lumber and stone and load it into the cart, also you must have 8 pioneers that will get into the cart.

When the cart is full of required items and people, you will be able to control it. After arriving at your new location, tick that little flag and everyone will unload.

Start the pioneers to clear an area to build... a tower, or a harbour near the shore, then recruit a digger and a builder with the tools. You might have to convert some of the pioneers back to carriers before you're able to recruit workers. You can use a cart for transporting goods between marketplaces... Or have it be a foundation cart. If you wish it to be a foundation cart, then you will need the items and pioneers I mentioned.

Also! another way to establish a new settlement is to use thieves, Geologists, and pioneers. It takes quite a while to make donkeys, so thieves are a bit quicker.Make a storage yard and tick it for stone and lumber. once you have 5 of each, crush it. Have 5 thieves pick up the lumber and 5 pick up the stone. (press ALT and click a location as soon as the thief flips out his sack, he will walk to that spot and stand there with the sack on his shoulder) when all the thieves are loaded... create two geologists, and three pioneers. Select the ten thieves and the two geos and three pios, press the alt key and click the destination, or a short distance at a time until you reach your destination. (if you don't press the alt key each time the thieves will drop their goods). If you're going by land you can have as many thieves and pios and geos as you want... If you're going by ship (ferry) you can have only 15 per ship.Practice this sometime and you'll see its much faster than waiting for farms and donkeys. I almost "never" use foundation carts anymore...

I put together a small group like I've described, walk or sail to the new location. If sailing, I land and have the pios clear a spot for a harbour. Once enough land is captured, I select the thieves and click inside the pioneered land (don't press the alt key this time). The thieves will walk inside and drop their goods. I then select the pios and geos and turn them into carriers, then create diggers and builders, and then place the harbour... then turn the thieves into carriers and they will carry the goods to the building site.

If you're starting a new settlement on land instead of a shore, then build a marketplace instead....
